About Us

Alaska 2008
The Head Honcho

Aloha! My name is Jessica, the person behind The Wondering Brain. I'm a Gen Xer and work full time as a Special Projects Person for a university. I am also a full time mommy to 2 boys, ages 19 and 2. To top it off, I am also a full time Doctoral Learner for the University of Phoenix. My program is on Industrial/Organizational Psychology. If all goes well, I will be done in about 5 years with an awesome dissertation (still deciding what that is) and a pretty cool title called Doctor :).

I started writing this blog in January 2013 because I was suffering from writer's block in school. Someone recommended that the only way to "cure" writer's block was to keep writing. Since I know myself too well, I like challenging myself in whatever I do. I figured if I held myself accountable for writing, why not display all my crazy thoughts out to the public? Thus, The Wondering Brain was born!

The Wondering Brain is pretty much what the title says. I write about my so-called insane life of juggling family, career, and school. I also have a good sense of humor. I can't live life without laughing at myself! I like health and fitness too. I had a couple scary incidences which forced me to look at healthy choices. Therefore, look for some healthy eating, exercise, and wellness to pop in from time to time. Don't forget, I am a psychology student, which means I might play with your mind too ;).

The Family

My Wedding Day
My family is a little unique. My 19 year old son is from my first marriage. My 2 year old son is from my current marriage. I've known my husband since high school. However, back then I hated him! It wasn't till he found me again in 2009 when he changed my mind. We've been married almost 3 years. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship, She is 18 years old and living in Houston.

Some Things We Love to Do As a Family:
The boys

  • Sea World
  • Movies
  • Xbox 360
  • Gardening
  • Eating
  • Reading
  • Visit Las Vegas

Sometimes, you'll meet a few more people who come in and out on a daily basis. For the most part, it'll be me, my family, and my Wondering Brain.

Enjoy!!
